Is the Technics SL-100C a good choice for beginners?

I keep hearing about the Technics SL-100C turntable and it looks pretty popular, but I’m not sure if it’s really worth buying compared to other models. Has anyone here tried it? How does it perform for someone just getting into vinyl?
