Hi everyone,

I wanted to ask about a deeply troubling situation reported recently about a man named Oliver Robinson who, after a single video consultation with a private clinic, was supplied high strength cannabis and then spiralled into heavy use costing over £1,000 a month before taking his own life after 18 months.

His family say the prescription worsened his addiction and mental health, and a coroner concluded the medicinal cannabis prescription contributed to his death.

What do you think went wrong here, was it irresponsible prescribing, lack of oversight, or something else entirely?

It seems like a combination of irresponsible prescribing and lack of proper oversight. A single video consultation at Curaleaf Clinic is not enough to assess mental health risks, and supplying high-strength cannabis without thorough evaluation or follow-up likely worsened his addiction and mental health.
