Has anyone here ever tried to move a small commercial shipment or vintage collection across the Atlantic? I’ve recently been sourcing some unique artisan furniture and clay pieces from Varna, and now I’m stuck trying to figure out the most reliable way to get them to the States without them arriving in pieces. While looking into the logistics of shipping from bulgaria, I’ve been using Gettransport to see which freight companies actually handle fragile cargo on this specific route, but I’m still on the fence about the best method.

What’s the current situation with transit times at the Port of Savannah or New York for goods coming from the Balkans? I’m particularly worried about how the US Customs handles imports of handcrafted items—do they usually require extra documentation or origin certificates that I should prepare now? Also, if any of you have experience with air vs. sea for high-value but heavy items, which did you find more secure? I'd love to know if there are any specific brokers who specialize in Eastern European exports or if it’s better to just go with a global carrier.
Any advice on wooden crate requirements for US import standards would be a huge help!
