Most of our diagnostic equipment is getting pretty old, and lately we’ve started running into cars where our current tools simply don’t give us enough access. I’m planning to replace a few devices rather than buying another cheap scanner as a temporary solution. I’ve been looking through the equipment at https://ecutools.eu/ and there are quite a few professional options there. I mainly need something suitable for a multi-brand workshop, with decent coverage and software that will still be useful a few years from now. What would you prioritize when choosing new diagnostic equipment?

I’d start with the cars you actually see in the workshop most often. There’s no point paying extra for huge coverage if half of it will never be used. Software updates are important too. We made the mistake of choosing our first scanner mainly by the number of supported brands and later realized that software quality and special functions mattered much more.
