The Community Communication Network (CCN) is a partnership between Public Health – Seattle & King County (Public Health), community and faith based organizations, and community leaders to ensure essential, and potentially, lifesaving information reaches all populations in King County. We know that groups impacted by inequities on a daily basis are at greater risk of significant impact during and after emergencies and we need your help in assuring critical information is shared quickly, and in a manner that is accessible, with your staff, your clients and your community.

Three categories of email messages are sent via the CCN:

  • HEALTH ALERT: conveys the highest level of importance; warrants immediate action or attention. After-hours contact information may be used to contact organizations.
  • HEALTH ADVISORY: provides important information for a specific incident or situation.
  • Email update: a non-emergency message that offers a mechanism to stay connected to Public Health and informed about opportunities that may benefit organizations, and their clients or staff.

What is the responsibility of myself or my agency as a CCN Partner?

  • Receive timely health and safety information from Public Health.
  • Redistribute to staff, volunteers, partner/like agencies, residents/clients timely health and safety information as appropriate and throughout an emergency (Agencies should develop its own strategy of how information is shared internally to staff and externally to clients.
  • Report to Public Health (as appropriate) the needs of staff, volunteers, partner/like agencies, residents/clients, and/or report essential situational information (be the “eyes and ears” for Public Health) to facilitate response and recovery during an emergency.

After hours contact information should be provided for at least the PRIMARY contact but preferably at least two. Each agency will need to develop a strategy of how information is shared internally to staff and externally to clients.

How often will I receive emails?

Health Alerts and Health Advisories are sent as needed. CCN email updates are sent periodically and include links to grant resources, service information and other relevant material. During an emergency, messages will be sent more frequently, depending on the scenario.

Who from my organization should be enrolled?

It is preferred that several contacts from each organization are enrolled. Organizations will have a Primary Contact who will have “administrative rights” to the system. This means that the Primary Contact can monitor who from the agency is enrolled in the network and makes changes or updates as needed.

Will information be provided in languages other than English?

If translated material, such as flyers or videos, are available, it will be made available.

What if I leave my organization?

If you are the Primary Contact for your organization, please work with your employer to identify someone to replace you in that role. If you are no longer associated with an organization, please change your account information to reflect your updated contact information.
